The West Chicago City Museum will host “Sweet Home Chicago: The History of America’s Candy Capital” from June 19 until Aug. 24.
The traveling exhibit comes to West Chicago from the Elmhurst Historical Museum. It tells the story of the candy industry in the Chicago area and includes some of West Chicago’s own candy producers.
To coincide with this exhibit, the City Museum will present “Chicago’s Sweet Candy History,” a presentation by author Leslie Goddard, at 7 p.m. June 20 at the museum.
The presentation is based on Goddard’s book of the same name. Attendees will learn about the history of sweets in Chicago, which produced about one third of the nation’s candy for several years
