Downers Grove police slapped three local restaurants and a liquor store with citations for selling alcohol to a minor in one day.
Officers caught servers at DuPage Inn, Mrs. T’s Pizza and Lao Sze Chuan, and a clerk at Prestige Liquor Mart selling beer to an 18-year-old, who was acting as a special agent for the department, village officials said during a recent liquor commission meeting. All four were cited on Jan. 30, all within a few hours of each other.
Representatives for all four business admitted to selling to a minor, doubling last year’s total for establishments cited for the violation. The incidents came to light during a March 7 meeting, where officials for all four businesses appeared for disciplinary hearings.
“Spring break is coming up,” chairman Alice Strelau said. “Our kids are coming back when bars are sometimes lenient.”
